Thinking about the Lovefeast

As the Lovefeast approaches (Sunday 2nd July 1.30), I was looking for information to share with those wanting to know more about it. The account that I compiled during Covid was full of links to our facebook page which are no longer correctly linked but the text is there : https://woodlandschapel.wordpress.com/2020/06/29/alport-lovefeast-2020/ and the photos can be viewed in the albums on our facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/hopewoodlands/photos_albums

The most authoritative account is written in a little booklet now scanned on our facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.2362781560604402&type=3

There have also been more recent accounts. In 2018 Owen Roberts wrote an article for the Methodist Heritage magazine : http://www.methodistheritage.org.uk/heritage-news-autumn-2018.pdf

The following year, Helen Moat wrote an article for Derbyshire Life. The article is on page 42. https://edition.pagesuite-professional.co.uk/html5/reader/production/default.aspx?pubname=&edid=c8cae325-a07a-4ad2-9ddb-594e565f6beb

These give a flavour of the place and the event. As does an account that I wrote in 2019 to record a more recent service. https://woodlandschapel.wordpress.com/2019/07/27/lovefeast-2019/

This was inspired by having been reading various old newspaper reports from over the years. The oldest of these was from 1896 : https://woodlandschapel.wordpress.com/2019/06/21/derbyshire-times-and-chesterfield-herald-01-august-1896/.
